RE: "keep pushing"?
I have been in no way "pushing" anyone in my office to vote for RM, but when I hear all of them (so far) say they're not voting for RM, it disappoints me.

I have on the other hand been pushing reasons to vote for RM here because I'm pretty sure everyone here wants to see motorsports on any level supported by our municipal government.

This is why hearing at work that no one gives a crap disappoints me;
We don't live in a truly democratic system.

To be truly democratic, we would be able to recall officials we were unhappy with - but our system does not have these measures in place.
Case & point, rally's organized between RM office, and the motorsports association last year which brought Race City into the news - in a truely democratic system, you only need a percentage of the voters to be disenchanted with their elected officials before they can get pulled out of office.

If one was to be cynical, you could say we have a pseudo-Dictatorship, or to put a more positive spin on it, we have what I tend to call a "sporadic-democracy";
We do have the choice of who is in office, but we cannot hold them accountable;
In the end our sporadic-democratic system of municipal, provincial, and federal governing in Canada does not support honesty - Politicians on any level can lie their faces off, and once their in, we have to deal with their decisions until the next election term...

Does anyone remember how jean chretien got his gov't into power on more than one occasion on the platform of eliminating the GST? - yet it stayed through all his terms.

You all do realize that in the 1930's German's did vote in their Chancellor, and they did vote their government in... but measures were slowly put into place which progressively eliminated all competitors, making any elections a ruse at best...

As far as I'm concerned our outgoing mayor bought his way into office, and became a multi-millionaire because of it (if you doubt me look it up);
He essentially bought his way into office, not becasue he was the best qualified candidate, but because he had the largest advertising budget...

With our system, the biggest factor which influences the masses is generally how short the voters memory span is, or name recognition...

In summary, this would be of less concern to me if we as Canadians could hold our representatives accountable, and have them recalled - but we cannot.

well, my municipal voting posts are done for at least three years

... changing subjects;

last week I paid off my credit card - so what have I done this week!?

• bought a TMPS tool
• bought a very rare test pressing of a Nirvana record (depending on the type, it is not unusual to have test pressings done in batches of less than 10; the test press CD I'd like is have is believed to have a total run of three.)
• bought two rare(ish) Nirvana albums... on record
• bought a Nirvana laser disc(!?!)

And here I don't doubt some of you my record posting a picture of two old records was because I hold onto junk;
I collect it.

I have some leads on a techII, but I'm thinking I put myself far enough into the poor-house for a couple months!

but then again I do have a car I could part out to pay off some bills!

it was alright we were all a bit confused about the story line seeing as we had not watched in a while but it was a good show none the less the only issue we had with the seats was that they were at the entrance to the floor seats so we had people walking in front of us the whoole night

ya some scratches and got pictures of his license plate and wrote down his vin also had a way to contact him since his phone number was on the for sale sign so i got his insurance info and will be calling my insurance company to have the scratches fixed

OK, I actually came here just now to post something...

I was going to post earlier today to see if we could all get together in the short term... just because hanging out with all of you can be fun.

but then I got this;

Since I don't drink;
If this is a ticket drink deal (as in they give you 'x' number of tickets for free drinks, after which you have to pay) I you can play paper rock scissors for my tickets?

Although I am interested in going, I hadn't really planned on it - but if one or more of you would go, I'd be in.
