Did they leave my engine running with the valve cover off for an hour?! There is oil absolutely everywhere. Including the outside of my hood and fenders. Thanks fellas.

I don't have it back yet, they still have it... just went to get a few things out of the car and I'm like hmmm why is their oil on my fenders. I'd hope they clean it before they give it back to me.

But it does bring up a question... would it really be a good idea to add 80 whp to an engine whose valvetrain failed in 2 places simultaneously after only 65,000 km. I'm thinking not.

That's at Murray.

That carpet thing on the inside of the hood is covered in splattered oil. Sooo gross. They better be replacing that or I'll be throwing bricks. I would say, hell... just give me a new LE5. But my F23 already failed, airbag sensors failed, the engine itself has been the most trustworthy part of the car up to this point. My car must have been built on a Friday and then it fell off the ******* train leaving Lordstown.

We'll see how it goes. She said they were looking for the part; as I expected, LE5 valves don't break very often. Why'd they even bother with variable timing for this motor. Low end torque, I think I read. What a joke, a stock LE5 falls flat on its face until 5k rpm.

Ya, the 2.4's don't have much low end but once it gets into it's groove it does have some pick up and go

Indeed. I've always been very cautious of having mine up there though, because... well...

Our VVT phases the cams to 50 degrees I think? How the hell are we still so slow?

I've got a midlength and I wouldn't worry about having the rpms so high just don't over rev it or bounce of the limiter and you'll be fine, ask anyone who has driven with me when I get aggressive with mine, that's where the car stays is 3500+rpm

Acey,

WTF man. That's a lot of oil. The LE5 is usually a pretty stout engine, shitty luck on that one I'd say.

DiabeticKripple,

Thanks bro, my front lip is garbage so hopefully his is in good condition . I'd help you out with the PayPal but I'm a couple hours away haha.

Also on a side note I did my sway bar end links today with Moog ones. Wow!! My front suspension finally shut-up . I thought it was the CAB's but they didn't help the noise. Turned out to be them. They are also greaseable with zerks, I reccomend if you have front end noise from your end links!

Joel

Honestly not too bad. I've definitely done worse. I didn't have any penetrating oil/impact gun/couldn't fit breaker bar so it was just really an arm workout removing the rusted/dirty nuts off the links on 2 of the bolts. The other 2 nuts came off fine. I was amazed how hot the bolts/nuts were after removal. Lots of friction haha.

If you want to do yours I'd be more than glad to give you a hand.

Did some searching on Google and apparently LE5/LNF heads will spray oil cause of additional lube for the cam phasers. Makes sense. Kinda.
