That sucks for you guys. I had a BSO cop actually see me follwing two 350Z's that were racing, we were all doing 130 or more, he chased one of the Z's for a few miles I guess and ended up coming back to the gas station where I was parked with some friends. He told me he saw me, I didn't deny it, and he ended up telling us to go somewhere else, just take it out of his jurisdiction. Pretty cool cop actually, admitted that he was doing 120 in his Durango trying to catch us and couldn't make the damn thing go any faster. Warned us that the new Chargers the cops have do 165+ and assured us that "none of the crap out here" could get away.

this is exactly why I wanna be a cop. So I can undermine ********* like this guy. Why is it when people get a lil authority they feel they can treat people like ****. I hate ******* cops like this.

ouch

If you paid, how? Cash, VISA, what?

I will never take off my tint---and I would not have paid---just said I had no access to that much cash.

I just might get a note from an eye DR...the lights but the hell out of me--thats the only reason I have any tint at all.

Stupid no tint law

should have taken more pics of the cops...then sent them to the local chamber of commerce--they don't want a bad rep

Honestly... I'd right to the local paper about this. Get some publicity. Include the pic of the a$$hole cop.

So it is illegal to park into a parking stall backed in??? Yet it is MUCH safer to pull out of said parking stall when you are backed in because you are going forward and can see everything around you A LOT better. I always back into spots when I can because I do not want to be backing out and taking the chance of hitting someone.

Here's the deal. After y'all file your complaints. And if y'all think it will help and not make things worse. All of us should call this town and say we had plans to visit or vaction there. But we heard the police are harassing people so we have cancelled our plans and will spend our time and money else where.

Profiling much? Usually down here you pull out the "p" word and higher ups in the police department perk up to your complaints a LOT faster.

No, you can't. Common myth but it doesn't work. As long as they have his plate, they've got him too.

I definitely think you should. Just say a group of your friends decided to check out the lake and surrounding area, because you were planning a future get together and were undecided about location. When they got there they were profiled and harassed by one officer (insert name here) from XYZ police department. You have since decided that after your friends were singled out, harassed, and humiliated by this man that you will find another town which is less hostile to its tourists. And you will be sure to pass this information along to family members, friends, school groups, church groups, and anyone else you talk to who my consider their town for a visit.

Best place to send this is to the chamber of commerce and the mayor or whoever is in charge of the town. I know this because I used to go through the same thing in one of the local boroughs here.

his letter I just sent to Sylvan Lake By-law municipal enforcement office.

I embelished on the reason we were there just to get the point across.

Subject: A fun day ruined - Cops Kibosh Cobalt Meet 12/08/2007

To whom it may concern

A group from our Calgary and Edmonton car club decided to check out locations for an up-coming meet involving members through out Alberta in which Sylvan Lake and the surrounding area were among our top choices as it is central on the premise of contacting the Town of Sylvan Lake to plan a future event and location.

When they arrived at Sylvan Lake they were profiled and harassed by officer (Dave Kyllio - See officer info below.) from Sylvan Lake police department. I was told that a formal complain was received and that two Cobalt’s were the culprits but no license plate information was available to accurately pinpoint the vehicles involved. The officer then proceeded to hand out citations for various infractions to the owners of the vehicles such as (Parking the wrong way, tinted windows, tinted tail lights, ect.). Yes they did park the wrong way and yes their windows were tinted and such but as this was all going on there were many vehicle with the same infractions parked all around us. So my question to you is. Is he going to ticket all of them too, I think not. Is this the way Sylvan Lake treats it tourists? I surely hope not unless you are trying to get rid of transient tourist just coming down to enjoy the day.

We have since decided that the actions taken by your police detachment and officer were unwarranted and that he singled out, harassed, and humiliated our members. We will find another venue which is less hostile to its tourists. I/we will be sure to pass the events of the day along to the Media, family members, friends, school groups, church groups and anyone else who may be considering Sylvan Lake for a visit as we the public will not tolerate this behavior.

Thanks to the officer for ruining what could/was supposed to be a fun day for all and possibly commerce for your town.

Okay, I have no problem being polite to an officer, IF he is polite to me as well. If a cop is being a fukin douchebag, he can lick my *****!

I would NOT have taken off my tint, I would rather have been towed first and then fight it. I'm a little on the hard headed side, and would rather spend the $2k on a lawyer and have all the charges dropped just to say **** YOU to that officer...

But thats just me. I feel for ya guys!

Hey Allan

That seems about right 50 bucks per window for the tint and a nother 25 each to clean the glue off.

Let us know if you find a better price.
