paint headliner
i have done a few in other vehicles but not in my balt yet. i have tried several methods and none have been real acceptable to me. however i do have a better plan this time. i figure if you use that fabric dye called tintex. you know the fabric dye for washing clothes in so they stay nice and dark. with a spay bottle and a strong solution it should achieve the results you want. i am going to try this in the spring to mine. if you want to wait to see of my results. i did this recently to a carpet in a old 50's buick and it was fairly successful. however it is messy so make sure you take the headliner out. let me know what happens. if you decide to try it. or you can wait coz i will try it in spring time i am like 95% sure it will work well. i will tell you the spay cans you can buy are garbage and leave the material hard and crusty. then it wears off fast too. so good luck and tell me what you decide.

see when i did my sunfire it was all crusty and it was wearing off around the sunroof button. that was with those spray can dyes you can get from crappy tire or whatever. i have dyed alot of carpets and so on in my time but head liners are diff. they do not like to much moisture. i figure i will give it a try in feb or early march. this way i have said worked real well on darkening a carpet from a puke brown to a nice chocolate brown. without any crusting or wearing. it actually dyed the fibers of the carpet and not sit on top of it. it looked very natural when it was done. so i will use my car for this experiment. i would try asap but i just moved and i am trying to settle in and take care of my son. so give me some time, i will be doing it soon enough ok.
i am thinking at least half the water it sugests, that way the mix is strong, and less chance of the fabric lifting off the under lay. try to spray it equal and lightly . maybe have a brush on hand so you can even it out more. and tape off those stupid warning patches coz it will look like crap if you cover them with dye. you will be able to tell they are still there, and the dye does not like them. good luck and let me know how it goes.
