Western Canadian Cobalt Meet 2012?
Just wondering if anyone would be interested in resurrecting a WCCM for 2012. I don't believe that there was one in 2011. The one I went to in Drumheller a in 2008 was great. It would be nice to do another meet in 2012.
I figure if we start discussing it now, we have a better chance at making the meet a really good one and coming to a good agreement on location and what to do.

I'm hoping not to be super busy in the spring so I may be able to help organize it. Any ideas on where you would like to see the event or something to do at the event. I think it might be nice to have somthing for our wives/girlfriends too at the event. I think that this could be some sort of additional thing that we could add to a registration form.

Like I said, I am hoping not to be super busy, so I could help plan it.
Regardless of who is planning it, I think we should start brainstorming some locations, dates and things to do at the event.

It was pretty fun. Nice scenery as well as quite a few things to see and do around the area. Plus Calgary is pretty close if we wanted to go there or have part of the meet in Calgary.
Another option if we were to stick with Alberta would be to go closer to the mountains. as an example Canmore. I'm not sure we would want to go much further west around Calgary as we would all have to buy park passes for Banff.
There is also the option of having the meet in Saskatchewan. I would say Cypress hills would be pretty cool or even around the Saskatoon area. There is a drag strip in Saskatoon as well if we wanted to look into either participating in an existing event or renting the track if people were interested in that.
In the end, I think the more central the meet is located the better as it is always tough to have the meet on one end or the other of the region.

I'm game depending on when/where and what it would be.
I've done the park your car and BS for the day thing to the point where it doesn't interest me...
Did you happen to catch any of the discussion we had over the past couple days in the calgary thread on something like this...??
maybe if this was to be opened to a larger audience a poll could be made for a couple viable locations ~ and majority wins?

A poll would be great when we have some options put together. There will always be people who won't be able to make it or do not like some of the ideas but if we get a good majority of people liking one idea, I thing that should be the way we go.
I will have to read through the last few days of the Calgary thread as I have not read that thread for a while.
I'm a little unsure on what you mean by opening it up to a larger audience though. Do you mean posting it on multiple forums or just have some more discussions on this over the next, lets say 2 months?

^^in that respect I was implying BC-AB-SK-MB;
we were talking about maybe starting something like this, probably at Castrol raceway (just south of Edmonton), and opening it up to GM Sport Compact types, or maybe other domestic sport compacts...
I would also think that the more vehicle types you open this to, the more people will show up as well...

I understand now. That makes sense. I also read the parts of the Calgary thread that talked about it. That sounds like a pretty fun event. If an event like that comes together, I am not sure how much of an interest there would be for a Delta only meet.

great minds think alike. Personally i think chad did the best job ever with the 2009 meet. Renting either the drag strip or the road course (if its finished) at castrol would be a good idea. Or i could even talk to Dan and probably rent out Stratotech for a good price. Edmonton seems like the best place for the meet, tts the half way point for everyone.

I read you mention something to this effect before;
wouldn't that pretty much mean you're stuck in BC?
- since you would have to pass through AB to go east...
also, iirc you cannot enter into the USA if there are any standing warrants for you, or you have a criminal record...

I'm game for the meet being in Edmonton. As far as renting SIR in Saskatoon you would have a better chance of getting the cast of Top Gear to come to the meet and shoot a TV special. SIR is an old boys club comprised mostly of jaded ******** who hate all things non pushrod V8.

I'd be interested depending on time and place. I could probably get my buddy to bring his supercharged silverado if its open to all, not just deltas. we both wanna hit the track sometime come summer.
