there are amply meets for truck owners, or RWD V8 vehicles...
I know what you mean about you wanting to run against your buddy - but you live in freaking wetaskawin ~ you have no excuse to not go to the track with your buddy on any given friday during summer;
when we had an operating track in Calgary, many people who lived in Calgary have had to drive for well over 30 minutes to get there...
your drive to castrol (an inarguably better track according to my sources) is aprox 30 minute drive for you...
just saying

hmmmmm well i know if we want to make this happen someone better get on it.... i missed drum, was at edm, did not goto bc (i was moving) was on the banff cruise..... seriously every event has been very fun.... i think if we plan it..... people will come..... i also believe if we open it to all domestic tuner cars, it could be huge.... guys no offense but i seen alot of deltas.... i wanna see the rest.... also it would definately help with track costs.... i will help plan even help with decal related products... honestly i want to make this big guys? i wanna make it a charitable event..... it could be a weekend of camping, bracket racing, and plain old good times.... plus we be doing it for a good cause.... cancer, childrens hosp, autism(special to me).... what you all think?

I think that would be a great idea. Opening it up to all domestic tuner cars would be a good idea as I would also like to see the rest of the cars out there. The more cars and people the better IMO.
I would love to see any profits go to charity. I am partial to the funds going to cancer as both of my Grandmothers passed away from cancer and I was diagnosed in 2001 with hodgkins lymphoma (I have been in remission since January of 2002. I am also in favour of the money going to autism as I have a connection to this as well. In the end, any good charity is a great idea.

Do the meet along with the super chevy show? It would be cool to show that there is more of a market in the smaller gm car's then just the v8 or muscle car. just an ideam thought i would throw that one out there.

Super Chevy Show is put on by the Super chevy Magazine, They did a fantastic job on the show and drag, but did a poor advertising on it because alot of people didnt hear about it. fantastic prizes and they pay the insurance, we pay the fee and have a fun day of drag or show. The other days we can organzie something else and cruise some where.

lol.. It's a little up in the air right now as the Calgary guys were talking about a meet that would include all domestic tuner cars and not just a cobalt meet. I'm not sure if they have moved forward with that idea or not. I would ask the question in the Calgary chat thread to see.

we were just talking.
we all figured that opening it up to more than just Cobalts/Deltas would make it bigger, and probably better...
but talk was all we were at... then this thread was made.
I personally have had crappy luck orchastrating events'/meets on my own - and our group seems to be in a constant state of flux ~ for example we've lost 6 guys from the local group this year...
(as in sold, or moved on type of lost)

I think that could be a great alternative. Instead of planning our own event, we could all meet at an existing event. We would all still be able to hang out as well as see a lot of other different cars!

the only problem with street wheelers, is that if anyone would be driving any distance, the town is literally over run with car enthusiasts ~ and hotels rates are insanely jacked up... that is if you can find any vacancies...
that and there would really be no free parking lot in or around town where we could conveign at...
and I like drag racing.

I'd be up to meet some other owners, heck, even other cars involved. But, running it, not the best idea... Unless the rest of you really want to drive up for Fort Mac. I think joining with another event might work though, easier to organize.

I vote for the Super chevy show idea, last year was a blast but there was only me and one other cobalt there last year. I raced and he did the show, I ran a 13.9 and I think he got a prize for best ie. only cobalt

Well i did get a jacket and a couple of prizes, and some sweet pic of the car, if you dont show up, well you cant win anything lol
I do like doing the chevy show and if we do show a presence to the organizers that we can have a v6 less class.

Hey guys,
Long time no talk, busy with bullshit at the university and such, haven't had a chance to catch up with all you guys in a long time!
WCCM 2012 would be awesome, I'm down. Be nice to get out and meet up with you guys again, 09 was an awesome time until the tornado came through
If you guys decide on Edmonton, I can talk to Castrol (the contact I had in 09 is still there) and see if he can swing something similar to 09. If not, Drumheller would be pretty darn awesome, too. There's my two votes.

I don't think that I'll be able to help plan or make it to a meet most likely this year. I have decided to go on the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour in June. Not sure I can plan many more trips given my holiday days at work.
