on my way home from cruise night, i ran across a guy who lives down my streets 05 GTP (the super nice blue color). we have chatted eachother up before and such, so we are at a red light that turns onto a wide open strech of road, we are chatting and i ask what hes got done and he tells me he has a intake...

so i ask him if he wants to run to 100 KM (60MPH) he says sure..

so we get the turning light...i was assuming we where going to wait and complete the turn then go...but he goes right off the hop..catches me off guard and takes me by 2-3 cars (fair enough my mistake)

so we go again..this time from about 70 Km's i do a 3 honk and go, from what i saw, he didnt understand the concept of 3 honks, so i got the jump on him and took him by about 1-2 cars when we shut down...

so we get into a parking lot and talk..he asks what i got done and i tell him intake and muffler (lol), he asks what i ran at the track and i tell him 15 and a half, he tells me he wants to go and he assumes he can do mid 14's (thats what i was assuming he could do aswell)

so we agree on one more run, we go from a 30 mph-90mph (agreed on the 3 honk thing now) i honk thrice and we are off, second felt REALLY strong and i chirped the tires hard going into third, never felt so fast in my car before...

once i shut down at 90mph i had about half-1 car on him (once i shut down he didnt and flew past me so it was hard to judge)

all-in-all, a very very happy night for me, i was expecting to get whomped by his suepcharger whine lol.

 

this is questionable without vid. but anyways good kill.

 

i dont have a video, and i understand it is questionable, i dont even beleive i was able to pull that off..

but my girlfriend did witness it if that counts??? lol

 

he should have, but anything can happen on the street. Good kill

 

out of curiosity, how much boost do those GTPs pull?

 

i have no idea, i will ask him next time i talk to him

btw, he has the heavier model of gtp, the gtp when they moved to that big ass body.

now that i have this short throw i have been able to chirp my tires going into third..ive never been able to do that before.

Good kill.......guys there's really no reason for him to lie, stock GTPs are trapping right around the same as his 2.4l SS

Ummm... sorry if I missed this... but what kind of GTP? They made both a G6 GTP (called 2005.5) and Grand Prix GTP in 2005.

If it's the G6... very believable. If it's the GP... also possible... but he should have been neck-neck with you.

 

it was a GP gtp, it was very very close, like i said i was about half a car or a car ahead of him (by half a car i mean his bumper was at my trunk so to speak)

 

That sounds about right.
They do have a great advantage on launching... as well as the ability to shift quick and select optimum gears, if they have tap shift.

 

mhmm he didnt have the shift quick and we did go from a roll, like i said, from a dig my bet would be on him...

regardless i was still impressed by my little 4 banger, and my header/downpipe was shipped today (weeeee)

 

i have a 2.2 manual and i raced an 04 gtp from random rolls. it wasnt organized at all, but we would line up and he would go (he was a chach, he thought he was a badass). he barely pulled on me. i was so supprised. i just had an intake and muffler at the time but i thought i would get destroyed. he just slowly pulled away. like maybe half a car every maybe 3-5 seconds. keep in mind i have a 2.2. i wasnt ashamed at all.

 

Thats a good run man. Just think if you had header/downpipe plus tune. You probably woulda beat him by atleast 2-3 cars lengths.

 

Yeah in the month to come me and a friend are investing in HP tuners and picking up my header downpipe this week
