fastest cobalt

So i remember a week or so ago there was a post about a cobalt running a 8.96 or something like that.

anyways it was a big deal about it and i was wondering why? I seen something in an super street magazine about a drag racing event and **** where mazdaspeed 6 and cobalts and scion tcs were all running in the 7s..

So i mean correct me if im wrong but why isnt that the big deal. and its not 1/8th mile either because these cars looked exactly like the 8.96 guys car

nope that is 1/4 mile. I have pictures of it from that day that it ran 8.9. I was at the import vs domestic at MIR.

That's not really a Cobalt at all though. I has a front end that vaguely looks like it, that's all. I'm guessing the 8.96 Cobalt was still FWD and 4cyl and the other faster times are not. I haven't looked into it, but that's my best guess

The Cobalt driven by John Heinricy had 1450 HP. I'd like to see some times from that one. It still looked like a Cobalt and all, just with a couple mods. I saw it at the ALMS racing in Detroit and got a few pics but they are back in PA.

but those aren't really street cars anymore, this guy had full interior, and it could of very easily been driven right on down the street. very impressive to hit the 8s
