First Timer...Be Supportive
being that iam also new to the racing i dont know were would be best to launch. i have had succes with the launchcontrol. it will only peel out if you dump the clutch. i havnt had trouble peeling out if i dont dump the clutch. but to make sure were do you all think it is best to shift when racing?
I put my flame suit on before I posted, lol. j/k. The majority of comments are helpful and everybody has been cool. This thread shows that css.net members can be mature, I think it's a positive step in the right direction. Good job guys and gals!
Here's what i've used and told other ss/tc members to try when running their cars at the track...
"Stage as shallow as possible...just where the 2nd bulb comes on. Don't worry about reaction time so much...unless you're running a car that's close to your time range. Leaving on the 2nd light off or 3rd on is a good ballpark figure for a decent reaction time.
Drop the front tire pressure down(20ish psi) and raise the rear tires to about 40psi.
Drive around the water box and don't do a burnout...it doesn't help at all. I've tried it and the 60ft times weren't any better.
This car likes to be ran when warmed up. Don't hesitate to hot lap the car. Any time i've ran my car when cooled down it throws the misfire cel on the 1-2 nls.
You can try the Launch Control but I haven't had any luck with it. I just recently learned how to use it properly...you have to release the clutch slow. When I was at the track I would dump the clutch and the car would bog horribly. It can't hurt to try it out but just release the clutch slow and it will work. It def works on the street
If you're not using the LC try to keep the rpms in the 2000 range when launching. If it drops below 2k it will bog and when the turbo spools it starts to spin. Any higher than 2500 will spin too. Leave like you are leaving from a stop light but quickly...if that makes any sense.
Shift out of first at 5800 and then at 6000 for 2nd and 3rd. If the run is decent you will want to shift into 4th for the last 50ft or so...i've managed a higher trap speed when shifting into 4th everytime.
And most important....
Be safe and have fun"

My first time down the track in my 06 SC I hit a 15.9. After a few more runs of getting used to the clutch and launching without hopping the tires, I ended up pulling a 14.5 at 98mph at the end of the night. You'll get used to it and you'll be running low 14's VERY soon! Just keep practicing!
Couple things to note:
1. Reaction time doesn't count toward your 1/4 mile time. Time starts when you leave the staging area.
2. The yellow lights are in .5 sec intervals. Drop the clutch just as the last yellow illumintes.
3. RUN THE **** OUT OF YOUR ******* CAR!!!!
4. Make fun of the honda and acura kids who put $4-5000 into their engines and can only run 15's

k, want more proof to show that what you did was NOT racing your car?? i was out at heartland park tonight. left off of idle, still spun the tires (2.6 or 7 60' time). shifted in to second. slipped the clutch aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way to redline, let it settle back down at about 4k. got back on it till 7400, shifted to third. finished the run in third. wanna know what my time was?
i'll give you $20 if you can tell me why people actually say that.

rollout is on average .200-.300 depending on the tire. average human reaction time is .250-.300. so when you try and leave when the third yellow comes on. you're actually going to be leaving about .250-.300 (depending on the person) after it comes on, then factor in tire roll out. you'll be leaving .100 or a little less after green.

Say what?? About the lights? That way you leave the staging area right as the green illuminates. So you don't red light. CHA CHING!!!!! $20 please

obviously. i was trying to see if you actually knew what caused you to leave the 2nd stage light right as the green lit if you left off the third yellow. but i already said it.
Yeah, that would be awesome.
Seriously? No.
Well if you slipped the clutch at high rpm through 2nd gear then I think you would have failed and limped off the track. Clutch smell? What was your time? Why did you slip the clutch through second?
