okay talked to one of the track owners tonight. they're already working with GM on getting something together. dates are still up in the air but it'll be in the spring before the heat, or in the fall after the heat. and they're thinking of combining it with another event and bring in pretty much any fwd non-v8(for our side of things) and then combine us with the "ford push rod vs modular shootout" that goes on every year. so we'll be racing against ourselves and some fiestas, focus, etc. and other fwd's. there will be a heads up class, some indexes, and brackets. i told them about getting a media flyer made to send out to magazines and post on websites as well so they'll be working on that sometime in the next month or so. told them that i could probably get CED on board. jason whitfield said he may make the tow if its a big enough event and he didn't have anything of his own to attend. i'd be willing to say that if he's down then brian ballard may be talked in to coming as well as zzp possibly with both their cars.

i'll keep you guys updated.

 

great, have you thought of contacting Marty Ladwig or Brian Jiminez? they are very local (one San Antonio, the other Houston) and have huge HP Cobalt drag cars. Sounds like Ford will be able to get on board nicely, any idea on the SRT guys as of yet?

 

I'm trying not to get excited about this but dayumm this could be so cool. The track itself is awesome. Second to none. There is plenty of pit area and seating. A big ass FWD 4 cyl shootout. If this happens, William Defoe will come out onto the track and conduct an orchestra during the races and all will hail, "THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT!!!!!!"

ford is already on. we'll be joining the push rod vs modular shootout thats been a yearly event at TRP for a decent time now. i'd rather not have srt's lol. i don't want it to be another import faceoff.... i'd rather have it just gm(chevy, pontiac, etc) vs eachother and ford fwds.

 

These are the people you need to contact either by phone, email or snail mail.. Once any of these guys hears about this event.. "the ball will start rolling within GM".. once the major media outlets gets wind of this, that GM racing or any "big name racing outfit" is going to be there, alot of people will show up..

Todd and Jimmy are already talking to the people at GM who would be able to set everything up on their side.

 

This is great news.. If this pans out, hopefully next year GM Performance can sponsor an "All out Ecotec" event at different race tracks.. something like the LSX events..

not sure. i've basically handed it off to the track manager and media personnel. they're able to do much more than i am. i'll be talking with them during saturdays race and give you guys an update

 

I'm in it's not far from Abq and this would be fun as **** me and my chick just went to camaro fest it was autocross drag and car show and part vendors it was fun as all hell something with cobalts would be even better keep us updated I'll definately roll!
