Just a flat fee in Alberta.

I would respectfully suggest that not ever single Cobalt model is weighed.

I mean you'd have LS, LT, LTZ, SS and S/C SS. Then throw in manuals/autos. It could get ridiculous!

Your car sounds like the weight of a LS coupe. Any scales around your place? Like on the highway? We have self weigh scales to the south and east of Calgary--and I have weighed mine.
Registration fee is paid by weight here in NB. I highly doubt they weight every car as well. Too expensive.

The GF's 05 Base Pursuit with A/C, auto, cruise & 4 doors weights 2kg more than my GT according to the registration.

Get some slicks, intake, exhuast, and header and you should be into the high 14's.

It might have been one of the DSM's. I believe one kid said he got his down to 13.0 once, and hit 13.1 a bit.

holy crap man! you ran a 9.9 in the 8th! your car is for sure a factory beast cause that 2.3 60ft. is definitely not impressive. with a lower 60ft., you would have definitely been in the low 15's! congrats man!

I think that car 203 was one of the Mach 1s. I raced car 203 once and they ran a 13.2 but I never ran against any of the DSM's so I am almost sure it was the red Mach 1.

that i dont know for sure, I only removed the spare and the jack. the autos are a touch slower, cuz i've run a few autos on the street and walked them without a problem, however, it should make it a bit easier to launch and your times will be much more consistent so you'll be able to tune easier cuz you'll know exactly how much of a diff it made.

It's quite possible it's a factory beast, idk, all i know is that i'm more than happy considering it's stock and there's still plenty to do (coughboostcough), I'm sure a short throw would help tighten the shifts up and then i def need susp, tires, mounts to get that 60' on. But for the first 5-spd car i ever went to the strip with i couldn't be happier, i was runnin 15.6-15.7 when i didnt miss 2nd.

it was only at 27psi tire pressure, and i did have my K&N drop-in filter on...but i doubt a drop in filter made that much of a difference. Come this summer when i get back to my co-op, i will get a bunch done, and hopefully i can make it to milan again when i get back to MI, otherwise i'll just run it at the track back in NY, but i think the altitude is a little lower there.

And i do believe it was the Mach 1, cuz i got him off the line and drove it hard trying to hold him off as long as possible.

but, considering i went there today expecting mid-high 16's, the car ran really good, i actually stole dan's (DJT###) idea and cranked the heat and opened the windows in the staging lane to keep coolant temps at about 189-193*F

So call me a nuuuuubie but you guys double shift at the track? Any tips on double shifting more accurately? When I do it, I activate clutch, rev once with clutch engaged then release and re-throttle. Is this an incorrect double-clutch? Someone give me some info I would like to practice this before next track run.

first off, i never double clutch, double clutching is used in older cars that don't have synchros in the tranny. It's somewhat pointless in a new model car. It was simply used before synchros because rev-matching of the next gear was necessary to get you're shifts right.

double clutching will actually slow you down, but if you're hellbent on double clutching, usually, you push the clutch in, move the shifter into neutral, let off the clutch, push the clutch in, rev-match your RPMs, shift to next gear, release clutch...repeat for remainder of gears.

was wondering because a redline guy was telling me tonight that other redlines are double clutching... I didn't not see the point in it and did not use at the track.... But then that guy said he missed a gear somewhere up higher on this thread and I was just curious, as a decent driver, how he missed a gear completely. I know sometimes you rev-limit and **** up a change but that is it ^ ^ oh well just my 2 sense

here is to help roc out

my 05 sedan base 5 speed with a short ram intake time was

r/t-.906
60 foot-2.401
330 foot-6.664
1/8th-10.196
mph-69.96
1/4-15.742
mph-88.07

video on www.streetfire.net do a search for cobalts then just look for the video of 05sedan from *************** vs 05 scion tc

i will be adding exhaust, springs, better tires, stiffer mounts, and a header by the end of may so maybe my car will hit some high high 14's then

You know what, your right, it was the red mach 1. my last 2 runs were against him, and he was 203. Pretty nice guy. I talked to him 3 out of my 4 runs against him. I plan on getting my car on his buddy's dyno in a couple of weeks

lol here's the thing about that. the jr. dragster went before us and ran the 1/8 mi. but they never reset the timing equipment to 1/4 mi. I beat the RSX to the 1/8 mi so according to my timeslip i beat him. And even still he didnt reel me in til literally like the last foot. ************ couldnt drive

well i was only at 86mph and with a 93mph trap time you should be a bit deeper in the 15's, maybe even high 14's, sounds like its time for some suspension work and tires..
