its hard to explain, you dont slam the gas, you feather it, same as you do with the clutch. With the clutch peddle you are feathering it out, with the gas you are feathering it in just abit quicker. This will prevent wheel spin.
iiunno about down there but all tracks in canada required a Snell/Dot approved helmet. You can get a helmet for like $75-100 if you are only racing. I use my motorbike helmet that cost me $450..lol.
i thought the SNELL/DOT requirements update every five years, make sure your helmet is approved for 2010/2011 regulations. Guys correct me if my info isn't totally accurate but I remember hearing that last summer, hence why I delayed my purchase.
