5th gear help!

So i followed the how to install a short throw shifter, cuz i was changing the shifter knob and boot.. Well got it all apart ok.. Only prob now is.. It wont go into 5th gear.. Anyone know why that is? Its not cuz the reverse lock right?
Basically i can shift 1-4 and Reverse while pushing the clutch in or not pushing it in(the car is off) but whether or not i have the clutch pushed in it wont go into 5th.. Wat i do wrong? :-/

you might want to adjust the side to side cable clamp. it's the one on the driver's side and there's a sweet spot where you can easily engage all 6 gears (5+reverse) but it's not too easy to find, especially on a short shifter. if that's the issue, sliding it back and forth will adjust but make small adjustments at a time until you find the spot

Ok so im retarded and didn realize that when u remove the stock shift knob The locking mechanism makes the shifter able to move farther to the right and 5th gear is closer to 3rd gear, dont push the shifter so far to the right lol... Lesson learned.. Dk if ne one else knew this or not lol.. Problem solved case closed.

lol good that you got it fixed. I wouldn't have thought of that right away if I had replaced just the knob but I replaced the whole shifter so I knew to go straight to the linkages to adjust it. happy shifting!
