Bad Trans Bushings?

How can I tell when my trans bushings are bad? The other day my car started to be very sluggish when shifting threw the gears. I also noticed with moderate braking i get a lot of vibration in the front end. Could these be signs that I need new bushings? I have had that B&M Shift+ installed now for about 8 - 10 months and wondered if possibly the quicker shifting could have put more stress on them which caused them to fail. I looked at the front mount and bushing and the webbing on the bottom half of the bushing is completely gone. Not sure if its suppose to be like that or not. Whats everyones thoughts on this?

i think you answered you own question!

when your car shifts, your engine moves. in these cars, it moves a LOT. the bushings are what "holds" that engine in place. I used that term loosely, anyone that has taken the stock bushing out knows what I mean. it's basically a very soft rubber.

anyways, when you shift, with the extra force of the shift kit, the engine is moving, and the mount is not doing it's job by holding it in place, which is throwing everytrhing off line and causing the car to bog.

i'm sure aaron helped you out, and i would get his bushing if he didn't tell you to. it will be well worth it, and they're very inexpensive.

as far as the B&M hurting the tranny, the tranny can take a good amount of abuse in your car. i wouldn't worry about it. people have been running the B&M on the same tranny for a very long time without problems.

Thanks for the reply. I figured it was only a matter of time before they were going to fail.
