The "Broken F35 Transmission" thread

Similar to the 'how'd you blow up' thread... I'd like to find out what part of their tranny gave out.
I listed a poll to find out what gear... but please state in a post what caused the gear to fail.
In cases where the whole tranny was buggered.... I guess, just post up "I f*cked the tranny bad!"

Hopefully this allows us to diagnose the weak point of these tranny's... and possibly help a vendor out to offer an upgrade for us.

(For those that are going to ask... no I didn't bitch my tranny... it works fine... I'm just curious)

My 5th gear is fuct. Reason? Probably the large gear puller, and two suplimental pry bars underneath.

On my original Trans... the 2nd gear Synchro Blocker ring went out on it.

On my current trans... the Differential fell apart.

i didn't break any single gear, i sheared off the main shaft and that turned into an egg-beater and mushed everything, and then cracked my tranny case.

trump that! haha

p.s. maybe you should add an "other" category to the poll. just a thought

Only problem I have is the linkage roll pin. I got some aircraft bolts I'm going to try out today though. Should solve the problem.

I was debating whether to add a 'main shaft' option... but I figured no one would have broke that....
I was wrong...

Yeah 3 times my car has been in for the tranny and i have a 2.2 but the 5th gear when out 8k into owning the car and the clutch had to be replaced because it was wearing unevenly at like 32k and my second gear started grinding on my move down to Nashville. Look at DSM's... their trannies are worse than ours... and they have a solution.

If someone (or a BUNCH of people actually) would email Shep Trans, I'm sure they would eventually look into doing something for the Cobalt world... quite like they have for the DSM world.
