it was like 2900 when the car was brought home cause shipping. the car was finnished at 8.500 dollars. we bought all the parts for it in 2007/2008 so they werent cheap. If we would have fixed in 2008 like we should have, we wouldve sold it for 10k easy. but we barley fixed it in 2011, and its not worth much know, cause the turbo balts came out, so i needed a first car (im 16) and told my dad ill give him $6500 for it, he said alright, and i bought it!

Has anyone just ignored a grinding synchro in the transmission and driven for an extended period of time like that?

Pulled it for a stage2 445. Which is still running flawlessly.

It was starting to make lots of noises; at idle it sounded like rocks rolling around inside.

yea if you got someone who can do that i would.........because idk of anyone that rebuilds these. almost everyone i have talked to about rebuilding it, the cost has come out to be as much as the transmission does new. so its pointless to rebuild them.

Driver error is not the only thing at fault. I have been good to my car and just got off the dyno today and made 472 whp, 427 wtq, and after a few pulls the car is a beast after my tune.

I drove home and noticed a slight vibe in 3rd gear in the shifter knob. It shifts great, no syncro issues or anything. I also noticed a slight wine now in the tranny. Maybe its just me but if you are making over 500 hp crank, this tranny has to hate you.

Anyone have these symptoms before it went out?

no bueno.........but yea with you having that much power i wouldnt be surprised. idk how some people are making that power, claiming they race it around, and still have no problem with the stock trans........hope it holds up for you though bud! these transmissions are stupid expensive. lol.

When I blew my F35 with LSD last October they told me the price of rebuilding it with a brand new third and forth and a few other odd and end pieces they quoted me like $2500. Or $3500 for a brand new one installed and ready to roll.

There was a sticky note when these transmission were designed saying "rape the customer if they blow them."

lol they already rape the customers enough. i got mine brand new for 2400 and did the work myself. but i guess 2500 isnt bad for a rebuilt one including install. but that strength of the case would still concern me too, its like screw it, ill just buy a new one lol.

Mine has been grinding 2nd gear for about a year before I bought it, iirc. It's still grinding to this day but works just fine after the gear is engaged. I have another trans in my garage and I'm just trying to decide if I want to try and find a way to make it stronger or just slap it in.

I dont notice the vibes anymore, i think the tranny was just hot from the dyno pulls so the tolerances where noticable driving home that day. The last week or so has been awesome. The trans loves the new whp I am making. That is about 540 horsepower btw if you count 15 percent drive train loss.

My old trans had a vibe on 4th. It shifted fine and drove ok. Took it in and ended up with a new trans. Turns out 4th was all chipped up.
