Changing Auto Fluid

How do I go about changing my AUTO tranny fluid? I want to upgrade the fluid in it to either Mobil 1 or RP.

I'm not sure but it is something that I would also like to know.

I also wanted to say that the last line in your sig is great

if the tranny is like the auto in my old cavalier (which it may or may not be) you'd have to drop the pan to drain the fluid. the good news is its easy to change the filter too with the pan dropped. the bad news is that you'll have to regasket it and hope it doesn't leak when youre done. if anyone knows any different, please correct me. (can't find my service manuals in the mess of moving boxes.)

it should be the same...4t40 (cavalier) and the 4t45 (cobalt) are almost identical. there is a way to change fluid without dropping the pan, though im not positive, so i dont want to tell you how yet since im not sure. i sent halfcent a PM asking him.im sure ill have an answer today, tomorrow at the latest

i took mine to a shop and they hooked to a pump thing thay called it a flush. they fill this thing with 10qts of tranny fluid and it pumps out the old fluid and washes through a couple of qts of the new fluid to cleanit then it fills it to wherever it needs to be i think 7qts.
