Clutch not disengaging
Clutch not disengaging
Ran into some clutch problems tonight and really need help.
You may have seen my hard getting into gear at high rpms, it seemed temperature related and I was leaning towards transmission oil but that isn't the case.
-gmpp clutch, installed a month ago and now with 1k miles on it
Tonight I was driving back to Raleigh from Asheville (3.5 hour drive, 2,000 ft down in elevation...) and was in fifth gear 90% of the trip. I tried downshifting into 4th and got the shifter into neutral with the clutch pedal depressed, but it wouldn't go into 3rd, 4th, 5th (too fast for the lower two). I coasted in neutral to the side of the road, trying to pump the pedal to see if it would help.
I literally stood on the pedal and tried getting into any gear after I stopped and ended up slamming it into first (but with no grinding noise).
I started again and ran through the gears fine back to fifth. i then depressed the clutch and realized the rpm's didn't come down at all.
I somehow made it back to my apartment off the interstate and had to go through the process of standing on the pedal and forcing it into gear every time I stopped, sometimes I didn't think it would go in.
The clutch seems like it has no resistance, the reservoir is full of fluid. There was an odd plastic like "click" a couple of times I depressed the pedal hard.
Is this probably labor or part? Slave cylinder/ master cylinder? Failed master cylinder rod or bleeding issue? Unfortunately the shop I had install it is back in Asheville.
Sorry if this is a previously discussed issue, I just got back from a funeral and have to catch up on work/ study for a biochem exam. This is not a convenient time for my car to give me problems too

So I went and checked the plastic clip, firewall, and everything seems solid.
I started up the car and it still wouldn't go into gear so I pumped the clutch about 20 times and it seems to have worked .
I drove around for about 15 minutes with no problems other than what I was experiencing before with the slightly "stiff" gears (I probably still need to change my transmission oil, 35* outside and colder seems to make it worse).
What do you guys think I should do? Bleed it? Replace the master cylinder?
I won't be going on another long trip for a while, I'm thinking it may not come back with city driving because I'll be using the clutch regularly every couple of minutes.

Get a brake and clutch master cylinder pressure kit and test your master output pressure, if it's good it's probably going to be either air in the system or your slave/TOB. The reason I don't think it has anything to do with your transmission is the fact you mention depressing the clutch and the engine RPM staying the same - meaning the clutch wasn't disengaging - and that is your problem.
