Clutch replacement

I have an 06 ss/sc. Does anyone have a repair manual for step by step instructions, or how many hours this should take? How is the Exedy clutch on ebay that comes with a fidanza flywheel? $525?

if you wanna keep your cobalt as good as you 'maro stay away from ebay crap. Exedy hyper single or GMPP upgrade the later is best bang for road, the former best for racin'

It would not be the Exedy hyper single stage 3 clutch kit, as that clutch will not work with a fidanza flywheel.

It is most likely the OEM or stage 1 exedy...

Yes the ACT clutch kit (HDSS) is now on the shelf (here at TTR). It should have some very good reviews, as ACT is a very good clutch manufacture.

So what kind of price would you give me for that act clutch and a flywheel?

I could not find it on that site. I am not the most computer savvy person, do you have a link to that site?

Use the OEM flywheel... Or the Fidanza

Also best price is on www.TurboTechRacing.com

MSRP is Almost $1,000 on this kit.

yeah the act pressure plate and street disk on my mkiii supra held hundreds of hard launches at the track (maxing out somewhere around 500tq) ... i'll swear by them until the end of time.

i have a used spec stage 2 from back in '06 but seen act was out now and bought that asap. I would put act against any brand +/- $500 of a comparable material clutch

the act clutch kit for the cobalts come with the act lightweight flywheel, that's the only way they sell them. $700 for a flywheel and clutch is a killer deal

The flywheel is a billet steel one, it should be a couple lbs lighter than stock, but not as light as a aluminum.

As far as how much time it should take: if youre skilled and have all the tools including a lift it can be done in about 5hrs, If youre paying to get it done be prepared to pay for about 10hrs of labor, if youre doing it yourself I would say that 12-16hrs seems to be average, and there are numerous 20+hr jobs out there.

Thanks, Ya I'm doing it myself on my lift. I just needed to know if there was anything out of the ordinary with replacing this clutch?

I have no idea whats ordinary to you, so no way to answer that. You have to support the engine. Be safe, good luck
