u only need 3inch if you have a turbo. if you plan to go 2.6 pulley (stupid) then keep your exhaust otherwise 2.50 is perfect. u might even gain a few hp/tq from downsizing

2.5 would prolly work for me right now but gonna get the TVS blower so prolly will keep the 3" to accommodate the new blower setup.

Why is an exhaust question in the drivetrain forum?

general rule of thumb is 300whp+ =3" exhaust...and even then your only losing like 5-10whp with a 2.5" compared to 3"

listen to Staged07SS though, he knows his ****

5-10whp with a 3" as opposed to 2.5" at 300whp? You're high.

I would say if you're stock blower, stick with 2.5" as, like Staged said, and we all know, 95% of this forum is not hitting 300whp on the M62.

I never mentioned anything about stock blower..."Rule of Thumb" is what i believe i said, not a spot on definite point at which you would have to go bigger

I will be close. I put down 261 on saturday and couldnt really get on it too much due to some afr issues. I am gonna have the tune tweaked a little and go for it again. I should be 270 - 290 whp. Then I plan on buying a tvs very soon. Hopefully this week.

Ordered from JEGS. Cant remember how much but I know it was less than $100. I think it was like $60 - $70 with shipping included.

Just dont go to the track and expect anywhere close to that, or you will be dissapointed. Nice dyno numbers for your mods though.

I know. I am going to test the accuracy of the gauge at the track next month. I doubt it is that fast too but I was really just stating that I dont believe I lost any power due to the muffler swap. Low's 13's would be great.

I use the dynomax VT on my turbo van, if I upgrade the stock muffler on the HHR SS thats the one I'm going with.
Pretty quite at idle and partial throttle and has a nice tone at wot.

Low 13's is possible with some DR's. Your trap most likely wont be over 106-107mph though, which is perfectly healthy for your mods.

Yea the VT is a str8 thru design with a flap that opens and closes. I love the idea but was too loud with the rest of my exhaust mods I have. That's why I switched to the super turbo.

Really? My turbo van has a 2.4 in it with same size exhaust we use, but bigger turbo and I don't thinks its loud.
But you know how it is, different strokes for different folks.

Right right. Also a turbo car's exhaust might be a little quieter than a s/c.

Thats great man, I luv my dynomax superturbo muffler also. I had the same problem as you my setup was originally too loud for my taste. I have 4-1 clearimage header 2.5 inch downpipe/highflow cat and a 2.5 tsudo exhaust. The tsudo exhaust made my car too loud so I went with a custom 2.5 inch exhaust consisting of the cti 2.5 inch axel kit and the dynomax muffler. It sounds great!.
