I wanted to switch from the royal purple oil I had put in 25k ago. And go back to genuine gm transmission fluid. I went to a Cadillac/Saab dealership, as I had seen a sign that they service all gm vehicles. I told them I have a chavy cobalt ss, and im looking for genuine gm transmission oil and that I believe it has a saab transmission, and was asked if it was a automatic or manual transmission, I said manual. And the guy finally returned to me saying this is going to sound strange, it takes automatic transmission fluid, yadayada. I said o.k.

Is it safe to use auto fluid in my manual transmission. It looks alright its all in Europe language, made in the Netherlands.

you want GM# 21018899, Chevy or Saturn dealer most likely. Will have a Saturn label, all written in English, fluid is made in Germany.

 

the 2.2/2.4 manual tranny takes atf )dexron III in 05, dexron VI in 06+) but the f35 in the ss/sc takes a special manual transmission fluid.

 

The part No is 3202-5038 if anyone's curious or could look it up. Im going to return I guess either way, draining it and getting a refund.

 

Nope the Saab manual trannies use the same MTF fluid as our F35 do.....you were talking to an idiot thankfully you asked before using and possibly costing you a trans
