Hard Shifting

My 2009 TC has been increasing hard to shift. It started out as an intermittent thing a couple hundred miles ago, but it was getting so frequent I parked it last week afraid of getting it stuck somewhere (maybe breaking a cable or that it was the transmission).

I've got 64K on it, and it's been driven pretty hard a lot of the time. It is hard to shift 1-2 and 3-4. Last week when it was cold I tried to shift (engine off) through the gears and there wasn't a problem. Then I tried it again with the engine started and the clutch in, still no problem. But like I said it was intermittent.

I'm going to look at it this weekend, I'll pull the console and look at the cable ends there and at the tranny. I don't know if that will tell me much if one of the cables is worn or frayed inside the casing. Maybe just needs adjustment from the cable stretching?

I didn't want to buy new cables and go though the hassle of installation if I didn't need them. And I haven't ruled out the transmission either. I have read all the other posts here and that at least gives me an idea of what to expect. I don't think it's the clutch dragging (only 20k on that) although when it's really cold (below freezing) I have had started the car in first gear with the clutch in and had the car move a little.

Any thought's on this?

You can get decent rebuilt transmissions for less than 1/2 that price, until they dry up.
Good luck with the clutch, might try being nice too it to help your car last longer.

It was the clutch, Kentucky Stage 2. I've got a stage 3 in there now, no problems.

like they stated months ago, be easy on the car, just because you have a "stage 3" clutch doesnt mean anything. that trans is gonna be next esp if you dont have a built trans. the K04's are fast spooling turbos and the torque hits instantly. assuming you know what your doing but try not getting into full boost before 3500-4000 rpms.
