Here we go again TOB went
From a Guru friend of mine. Quote( Take new tob, and holding it in your hand with slight pressure on the tob, apply lite pressure to the clutch pipe port. It should immediately react and travel out. If it takes a lot of air pressure to move the tob out, its defective. As you apply higher pressure the defective TOB will move with a pop/ but the seal is too hard, and it wont move out with normal bleeding which makes it defective and the beginning of the end.)Unquote It works and you only need about 5 lbs of pressure to make it move. Shouldnt be any binding at all.

FWIW, I've just started to replace that pipe every time, it's only about $9 and they leak too easily. Changing it requires dropping the trans again, so it's very cheap insurance to change it out with the TOB while you are in there, rather than having to do it again.
Make sure the end of it is perfect and the little cup seal is properly installed and clean, then clean the block very well and make sure the clip is installed properly before you snap it on. Once that's done, try not to rotate it too much. Used ones are really sensitive compared to new ones, that's why I just like to replace it after having an issue on two cars. Not dropping a trans for free again

Dealer, always. I used to order them from my local parts guy, I guess CED would be the best option now. Last two clutch jobs I did were a while ago and I had the customers bring the parts with them so I haven't bought them in a bit. You cannot get the seal by itself, it comes on the pipe, so if you are getting the block and want a new cup seal you will have to buy that 'clutch pipe' also I believe they call it.

The block can be changed later with no real issues, and unless it's corroded inside it shouldn't ever give problems. Main issue is people twisting/damaging the pipe when removing or the seal not being perfect, both of which are remedied by replacing the pipe, which requires transmission removal. Spending the extra $10 is always worth it to avoid the risk of re-doing the entire job.

If your talking about the clutch pipe the trans comes out for that...
yup I see them. My uncle put on the elbow joint for the clutch ( worked together changing it) due to he knows how to bleed clutchs and I do not. When I showed him the picture of the seal, he said it might be jammed into the elbow . My parts from Gm should be here tomorrow morning . And thanks Powell for the pictures, it sure helps a lot! .
Sooooooo, on mine it turned out it wasnt the tob..... Damn mechanic let the nipple in the clutch pipe sit up in the elbow and didnt put it on the end of the clutch pipe..... So i had to tear the whole trans out to find that out..... Thanks mechanics... This is after i pointed it out to him, and he said oh yeah ill get that..... So on my way to get a refund (hopefully) tomorrow
For a real mechanic to do that is crazy , but everyone makes mistakes . My uncle and I are back yard mechanics , so little stuff like this you cant get to angry.. You learn something new everyday . Next time I do a tranny, I will make sure EVERYTHING inside, tob, piping, elbow is good. Just so I have a clear head, and not to worried about it.
