To make sure I'm clear on this...On your Cobalt when you lift the e-brake your TC light on the dash comes on, right? On my 07 SS/NA the TC light does not come on when I lift the e-brake. Only when I shift into "L" does the TC light come on.

I'd like to make a manual switch to disengage TC but even if I could I would still start out in "L" for hard accelerating.

Get a turbo and then D won't be so weak.

yup. im sure ur TC come off 2. maybe the light just dosnt come on. if ur going to start in L anyway i guess it really dosnt matter. TC is fine after 1st anyway. I hardly use the switch.

It's not about "D" being weak...it's about "L" being stronger then "D" off the line

If I went with a turbo then "L" would be even more important!

If you got yours tuned that's nice, but if you run at a dragstrip you should always start out in "L" for the reason I've already writen about 5 times in this thread......your tune does not move your manual valve in the valve body....

red07ssna its a loosing battle it has been explained too many times its just funny more than anything but i must admit i do like to see this thread still going. Low is better for starting and better 0-60/1/4 mile but they just keep going with there is no point on shifting an auto manually crap for those of us who have an auto and have used it know the truth.

Our cars are standard not auto, lol. I know about my car. Outside of getting better time on the 1/4 by turning off the TC in L,(I'm not saying it'll break anything and I understand the whole idea) it's stupid to "Shift" you're auto.

Wow! Just Wow! I didn't realize how irritated manual owners are by auto tranny guys moving their shift lever. Why does it matter to manual owners what auto owners do? Clutch-less envy, perhaps?

I am "chillin". Nothing like having fun at the expense of "clutchers" Now when I drive my Cobalt I derive more pleasure out of it by moving the lever from "L" to "I" to "D" just knowing that the "clutchers" get their panties in a bunch!

I'm not mad, I'm laughing at the thought of you shifting from, L to I to D. I get more pleasure by pushing in a clutch pedal and shifting a gear stick 5 times than to look like a poser shifting an auto. Do you put it into neutral at red lights too?

Didn't think about it but if it will help to make you happier I can.....

I'm sitting here wondering....do you "clutch" guys also stop people that drive pickups and tell them they need to be hauling stuff in their bed if they aren't hauling anything? I just imagine you yelling at them: "Hey, you bought a truck! Are you just posing as if your driving a car? If you bought a truck you should be hauling stuff!"

"Posing"...only a "clutcher" would think of that....

How to shift an automatic: By Apcsox

Put key in ignition.
Turn vehicle on.

To go in reverse: Push button of front of knob and move until it is in the "R" position. Look behind you and hit gas.
To go forward: Push button of front of knob until it is in the "D" position. Hit gas.

You forgot to insert "look forward" after putting it in "D" position. do you realize how many accidents you could have caused!!! Especially when clutchers get behind an automatic for the first time....it's obvious it's difficult for you guys....

Whenever I get into either one of my parents cars, I always depress the imaginary clutch while I start the car.
