just installed mine today. it wasn't very hard but somethings were a pain in the ass. The directions were good to a point, and I figured out some of my own tricks to make life easier. One question that I have, is there any adjustment that can made to the shifter left and right? If I push the shifter all the way to the right it won't go into fifth. You have to bring it back to the left a little bit and slide it in.

yeah because if you look at the shift pattern on the shifter its not all the way to the right and up for 5th its a little before it because reverse is all the way to the right and down found that out today when i put mine in.

Where you clip the left cable adjusts where the shifter sits left to right. Hold the shifter in place with your hand and clip the left cable down. The way mine is fifth is where it hits the ridge for reverse lockout, just like on stock.

Why disconnect the reverse lock-out when it works?? All you have to do is adjust both cables. And why cut a perfectly new shifter?? Waste of money if that's your plan.

I think it would be difficult given the design of the shifter as far as cutting. The reverse lock out doesn't really bother me like it does some people. But hey give her a shot.

Hurst is for 2.0 only, which might explain the problems unless you're trying to alter the Hurst to work on a 2.4 shifter, in which case you're gonna be on your own, don't think anyone's tried to tackle that yet.

I have the Hurst shifter and when I spoke to them they said it would fit on the 2.4l SS. *groan. This is what they said...

Jay: HURST-QUICK STICK SERIES SHIFTER - CNC Machined From Billet Stock For Extra Strength And Reliability, Direct Replacement Shifter With 30% Shorter Throw, More Positive, Precise Shifts, Includes Billet Aluminum Engraved Knob
Jay: Correct?
Joe: Yes
Jay: Yes it will fit..

Ok, so what steps do I need to take to make the reverse lock out work? I planned on calling Hurst tomorrow.

Reverse lockout fix

Adjustment for Reverse Lock-Out (if required)
If shifter engages “reverse” without pulling up on the “lock-out” collar, adjust the shifter cable as follows: A) Place shifter in “neutral”. B) Mark the position of the left side cable where it enters the connector. C) Carefully pry the clip (usually white) out at the bottom to release from the connector and pull up. D) Move the shifter slightly to the right so that the connector is positioned approximately 3/8” further back on the cable from the marked position. E) Push the clip down to lock the cable into the connector. Check to be sure that shifter will not engage reverse unless “lock-out” collar is pulled up. Repeat this procedure if further adjustment is necessary.
