HURST shifter is released!
shortening the throw of a shift has nothing to do with the length of the actual shifter, it's the design and placement of the shifter that matters. Infact, by cuting your shifter you're just shooting your self in the foot, because you're loosing leverage, making it physicaly harder to shift. Hate to burst your bubble but cuting the shifter does not effect the length of the throw
.... I'll try to find an explantion on google or sumthing

this is the only explanation i could find, it kinda sux cause it doesn't give an explanation of how it works... but here it is anyway, I got this off TWM's website
1. What is a short shifter?
A common misconception in the industry is that a short throw shifter is just a chopped off version of the stock shifter, in reality it is a much more complex part. The geometry of a short throw shifter has been altered in such a way as to reduce the distance that the upper section of the shifter needs to move to achieve the same degree of movement in the lower section.

I just don't know what to think. I think it would have been better in the polished because it would have matched the trim around the boot. I don't know if I like the color. It does look a lot nicer quality than the B&M.

Simple concept to understand in the lever mechanics. The shorter the lever, the more effort needed, but the shorter the distance to throw.

i agree kinda think the stock shifter looks better but i do like the advantages to the shorter throw i had one in my old car,, i just got one problem is the shift knob metal because won't that get hot sitting in the sun ???
I just installed mine, and the reverse lockout doesnt work. You can just put it right in without lifting it up. Anyone else have this problem? If not maybe I missed a step. But it does shift awsome!!

well I heard back from Hurst, Spoke to Jim their Chief tech and engineer, he says they are aware of this problem. this part was prototyped on a car and worked fine, but they recently installed one in a brand new 07 and the shifter does not go into rev. with the reverse lockout.
It goes in without like a lot of us are experiencing.
they are working on this to determine what has changed/ or not changed that causes this.
Question:Anyone that has installed this shifter and do not have the use of the lockout, was your shifter EVER replaced under warranty?

now I bought my car new, but I can't be 100% the shifter was never replaced, the car was built in november 2004 and i didnt buy it until August 2005. The cam sensor recall was done and it was at a few dealerships before I bought it. I'm assuming the shifter wasn't replaced because the shift knob popped off about 3 months ago for the first time and it doesnt look like it was ever fixed or glued or screwed or anything. I can measure my stock shifter (very accurately) if that would help anyone figure anything out about this.
