I need LSD
I need LSD
Hey guys, so I bought a 2010 Cobalt SS this past august which I drove for a few months before I had to put it in storage for the winter. Well I'm planning on doing more mods "done basic boltons and tune so far" this spring and love everything about the car except the fact it doesn't have and lsd transmission
I have a 2006 supercharged cobalt also that does have g85 package and after years of driving that to not having lsd I can really tell the difference. Going around corners and on freeway even when it's dry it spins pretty hard and doesn't feel like it pulls as straight as my other car. Was wondering if this is what I need or if I could get a link to one. Any help greatly appreciated Evasive Motorsports | PH: 626.336.3400 Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm PST: Quaife ATB Helical LSD Differential - Chevrolet Cobalt SS SC (F35/MC2), Cobalt SS TC (F35/MU3), HHR SS TC (F35/MC2)
Thanks for that information guys. I'm pretty close to Chicago, I live in Minnesota. So the LSJ and LNF have the same transmission? Aren't they geared different, and how would it affect performance to put in an lsj transmission?
LNF is a 3.82 and LSJ is a 4.05
A lot of people put the LSJ trans in the LNF when they break third gear. Everything about them is the same expect the gear ratio and who makes the LSD. In the LSJ Quiaffe made it and in the LNF Saab made it. That is the info I was told.
Get in touch with Pwerks is your best bet. He is a member here too. He will get you squared away easily.

^^^ what he said. we offer a full rebuild service as well as a full product line and tuning for the lnf/lsj
chevy can do these transmissions IF they have a technician that's been certified to rebuild it and have the tool kit. not all the dealers do. This transmission isn't super hard to rebuild but you need a few specialty tools and
the final drive ratio is different in the transmissions mostly. lnf has better throw out bearing and all that. we can also do the lsd for you.
Let me know.

yep. they no longer do it. apparently they didnt even do them in house but i cannot verify that. they can be a pain in the ass to deal with so i dont blame them for dropping the program.

Now how hard is it to install the LSD unit once the tranny is opened already? Or to be more specific, how much would it cost to have a shop install it if the new tranny is already opened?
it shouldnt cost you anything if the trans is open. thats half of the battle. maybe if you didnt have the shop do the rebuild it would cost you .5 to 1 hour of labor.
