I'm looking for a reliable 400whp out of it, and I'm sure it'll get me there no problemo. I'm sure eventually I'll want more, but that's the current goal with it. I'll be sure to post the dyno up when I get it done. And I'll also make sure I do that separate impression thread I spoke of earlier, give my thoughts on how it drives, spool time, etc.

Edit: Speak of the devil, look what UPS just showed up with

So just to update this quick, have about 220 miles on the new turbo and the clutch/flywheel holds nicely. No slip that I've noticed. I'll update this more after I get more miles on the setup, probably later this summer.

I'll keep it updated. It won't be constant, but as miles rack up I'll update how it's holding up. So far it's rained the last week so the car has been hiding in my garage.

Let us know how that clutch does on a stock replacement too, I'd be interested in seeing how the little LuK likes heavier clutches that clamp harder.

I appreciate your reviews. I don't anticipate needing a new flywheel soon if ever, but it's nice to know someone's experience with options other than the outrageously-priced OEM version. Thanks!

No problem, It's always nice to have options. Not that I'm knocking on the OEM piece, but if someone is stock or just has a stage kit(LSJ and LNF), it's nice to know they can get a clutch and flywheel cheaper than what an OEM flywheel runs by itself, and that it'll hold up to that without issue.

Update numero uno,

Car has about 1,000 miles on it with the new turbo, and so far everything is great. Clutch/flywheel combo hasn't slipped at all, even with multiple pulls. It's hard not to go into boost, it just makes you grin ear to ear now Can't say anything about the long term, but as of right now it seems just dandy.

Edit: Yes, I have driven it that much since I said 220 miles. I've found every excuse to go drive all over, even just to go get the wife Dairy Queen

I'm going to knock the OEM price. $700 for a flywheel is obscene.

If you bought it from zzp it's likely a LUK not a GM one, they say aftermarket OEM meaning it's made to OEM specs but not a GM flywheel. Unless it said GM/AC Delco on it

This.

But idk what brand ZZP has. I do remember reading somewhere somebody said it was stamped made in China, but that thread is a few years old. I know the LuK I have is stamped made in Germany.

Just to keep this lively, not significant miles but just want to keep this updated for both clutch/flywheel combo, and abuse from 6758 goodness :-)

I'm on my second trip to Michigan, and since I don't have my service van yet, and I don't trust my shitbox to make long trips, I'm in the Balt again. By the time I get home this week I'll be at 2500 miles with the new turbo, and about 11k total on the clutch/flywheel combo. Still holds great, doesn't mind the Z54 so far, and still qualifies as a good combo for someone who doesn't want huge power or a massive clutch. For $400 total, the combo really does do quite well for itself.

Eventually I know it will live no more, especially since I can't help but do 2nd and 3rd gear pulls with it,but until then I'll keep updating. Already getting to used to the newfound power, and I may accelerate it's demise with a possible cams/springs/E-tune in the future
When it comes out, a trans will probably be on my short list as well.

Hahaha I know the feeling for more power at first I said the ko4R will be more than enough and a few months later I got a new turbo, cams, trans swap valve springs

Got my flywheel today, made in China, no markings on the back except a few numbers that seem to mean nothing (not matching any of the ones on the box), has seemingly heat wear (already looks a little discolored), and one of the bolt holes is a little funky around the countersink. Thinking I should return mine and try again? Thoughts?

Was this supposedly a LuK you ordered?

Edit: Here is where I ordered mine from, and the pictures is EXACTLY what I got.

Hmmm, odd. Maybe they do have some made in China. Kind of odd that it wouldn't have the LuK logo on it though, maybe a mixup. I would return it, and see the edit on my last post. I know they're not the cheapest, but what they pictured is what I got.

Edit: Funny, cause Rockauto has the pics posted of what it should be. I wonder if someone bought one, and returned theirs in the box. Can you post a picture of the discolored area on the face, and the backside?

Luckily I've found an OEM one for cheap that a guy couldn't use because of his car (trying on a Saab) so I'm grabbing that. Here's the "LUK" rockauto sent me. I already filed the return stuff. photo497.jpgphoto32.jpgphoto826.jpgphoto710.jpgphoto28.jpgphoto180.jpg
