New Clutch time

Hey guys,

I know the title says new clutch time, but basically have the clutch in a box waiting and just going to DD the car until later this fall before I drop the new clutch in. Reason for the thread is, i was reading up on just getting the Stock fly wheel resurfaced for the new clutch. Dealer is saying it will cost a bit more to get it resurfaced.

With the fly wheel resurfaced does it effect anything else down the road with the new clutch? No right, its just making it non warped and smooth and wont effect the Stage 3 clutch that will be going in it.

This would be great, but who knows what kind of place is going to be doing it. When my stock clutch finally gives I'm going to order a new flywheel along with my gmpp sitting in my basement. I can't rely on anyone when it comes to working on my car. When i took off my control arms to get new bushings pressed in I had to drive to four different shops till I could get it done. OP to make your life easier and for alittle bit more money just get a new one. If your car is your dd do whatever you can to have the least amount of hiccups.

Having a KY clutch dropped into the 'balt as I type this. Went with resurfacing the stock flywheel. I have not had any problem with any other car with resurfacing what you got provided the flywheel only needs resurfacing, and you're not after anything performance-wise like swapping to a lightweight unit for faster spool up. And - providing a good shop does the work. Having some half-ass doing the resurfacing only causes problems.

Actually, I shouldn't say anything yet - hopefully mine only needs resurfacing!

Mine is just about done - the flywheel is resurfaced and looking great (reputable machine shop work), and was only waiting for the clutch pipe to show up.

I'm amazed at the stock clutch - I only had 24 k on the clutch, and it looks more worn down than a 150k clutch! No glazing, not a hint of overheating, but warn practically to the rivets. This makes me very surprised at the TC owners here who have claimed to repeatedly rape their clutches and have them hold for a lot more miles.

Well, Going to have the Dealership do it, since its the only place I trust around the area. I am really just doing this clutch so it will hold the trifecta tune I will be getting soon. Then its over with modding this thing... gonna ride it till it dies then go for a different sports car.. this will be like 10 years from now as a house is the next BIG purchase I really want to do.

I made over 400whp 395wtq on nothing more than a GMPP LSJ upgrade kit, which will fit the turbo cars as well. I also bought a new LNF flywheel to go with my GMPP Upgrade clutch kit and swapped all the parts on. It feels very stock, a bit more grabby when driving around parking lots, you feel the springs a bit but its a rock solid clutch and I love it. Did I mention its like 200ish bucks and comes with a new LNF TOB from CED. happy happy happy

This is what I'm running on my TC. Very happy with it.

resurface is fine, but you can just swap in a new one and do the job in 1 day instead of having to wait for the machine shop once you get it out.

Had mine resurfaced and returned in the time it took for me to find and order the clutch pipe!
