Sequential transmissions?
Sequential transmissions?
Anyone here have any experience putting mating up a true sequential gearbox to their LSJ? Something like a QUAIFE 32G? I think I have a syncro going out on my F35. Since I have to pull the engine to get the transmission off (Ariel Atom) I might as well replace it while I have it out of the car.
I have very tight restrictions around the transmission so it has to be the same size or smaller than the F35

the only info i can find on any transverse design sequential gearbox is a few of the quaife boxes, and they are around $15k without the shifter/cables. on top of that, they all apear to be designed for vw stuff looking at the bellhousing and axle flanges.
Quaife will make a custom bell housing, just need some technical drawings to make sure it would fit. They are about the only ones that make a FWD sequential box.
What I'd really like is an AWD tranny to stick in the Atom. but that aint goign to happen wtihout a completely custom transmission....

Plus the 32G and smaller version 34G are most likely no longer available or on hold from quaife.....
So, these would fit but not without some major frame surgery. And on the atom this is a big deal since it is visible and powdercoated but could possible work on the cobalt if they are made available.
My next step is to check with Hewland who make a FWB sequential tranny that might fit and can withstand 300 of tq (probably a lot more on the lightweight atom)
We discussed some other manufactueres but the prices on those start around $25,000
