Shep Transmissions

I have emailed shepard transmissions explaining our situation with transmissions. He is interested in expanding his business into new fields and helping other communities besides the mitsu crowd. He would like to know what failures we are experiencing with out trannies. I told him that 2nd and 3rd tend to explode and that transmission housing crack randomly. Also explained that we have no way of installing LSD's without swapping out the entire transmissions. Any other things I should add to the list of things that need fixed with out transmissions? Also feel free to send emails to Mr. Shepard at shep@sheptrans.com... I'm trying to get us support here. I have also been in contact with Whipple, and things aren't looking nearly as bad as prior to possibly getting a decent twinscrew...

i keep breaking teeth on the main shaft (currently on my 3rd).also broke a ring gear. cases are definatly weak but if you stop parts from exploding inside them it wouldnt be such a big deal then.
lets see what else did i brake. bearings on diff are crap. fucked up 1st gear. blew some diffs but purchased a quaiff and problem solved.

no you can buy a lsd and split the cases .but it might be cheaper to just swap trannies after you buy the diff and pay someone to install it

Any one with pictures of blown trannies on this forum please post them up here or tell me where to find them. Mr. Shepard wants to take a look at them.

Here is pics of the second tranny I blew. 3rd gear grenaded once again and shot out the case where it would normally crack anyhow. I still have the 1st transmission in my garage full up with a good case and diff that has a broken 3rd gear if Shep needs one to tear down and make a gearset for. I would be more than willing to send it in for a partial or full sponsorship for a gearset!

it wierd to hear it,l when i came on here back in the spring, first lookin at a cobalt, i made a topic about the transmissions because it was my first 5 speed and asked how they stood up. Everyone said they handle great, stand up to a lot of abuse and are very forgiving, not so much now hmm?
