what you do is shift into neutral while giving it enough gas to put the RPM at the EXACT place where the car is supposed to be and i forgot the correct terms used but the car then thinks (yes i said think) the clutch was used and puts the car into gear without grind.

if you do it right, it wont grind. but still badddddd
if you do it wrong you might as well get a new clutch and probably a tranny with that.

again i dont know the correct terms or exactly what happens but thats how it is.
I've always heard it referred to as 'dry shifting' not an easy thing to do, pretty much impossible if you don't know the car.

I used to shift my Cav all the time without the clutch...never had a problem! Drove it till 103,000! However, unless you are really familiar with the car, don't even attempt it, you'll royally screw your tranny.

shifting with no clutch

You can shift with no clutch on any car. You just have to do it at the right RPM. After you drive the car for a while you will get used to what RPM your supposed to shift at. Sure its not recommended. If you got the experience you can do it though.

In my 90 Beretta GTZ w/ 120,000 miles on it I could do it with 0 problems. The car was taken such good care of and when I got it, my uncle (Whos car it was orig) showed me how and that the car was cool with it. I used to show off to any1 who knew about man cars that it didn't need the clutch to shift.

I wouldn't doit in the Coby... then again, I'd figure the car would need to be pretty broken in to doit it ok....

its def. possible. you just have to know where your syncros open up, when the syncros are open, you can just push it out of gear and slide it right into the next one. you can concievably drive all the time without using your clutch, but if you don't time it right, or let the rpm's fall/rise too much, they'll close again and you will just grind the gears. not a good idea, but it does reduce wear on nearly every moving part if you can do it right, and consistently. pretty advanced stuff.
