it was a very simple install but the stock shift knob was a pain in the ass to get off. its a quicker shift than stock (which it should be..hence short shifter)

I got the stock knob off by taking the whole assembly out of the car. Four main bolts holding it down, and the two snap connector for the shifter. Pullout the assembly and take a long flathead screwdriver and put it under the knob where the reverse lockout slides into. I hit the bottom of the screwdriver on the curb in front of my house while holding the rest of the assembly to prevent damage. After two blows the knob flung like 10 feet into the air, and it was off! The only other tricky part is being carful removing the plastic piece you'll need from the orginal shifter assembly. Good Luck!

^^^^There has got to be a better way then that. I can't see myself beating something off the curb to get it off.

There is. I cut my stock knob off the top of it's lever with a cut-off whell and then pulled off all the pieces. The whole process was about 20 minutes start to finish.

You beat the end of the screwdriver. It didn't hurt the end of the knob at all. I could put the old shifter back in the car still perfectly if I'd like to. Nothing broke. The stock knob is pressed onto the shifter. It takes force to get it off, and that was my method. Use could use a hammer/rubber mallet if you'd like instead.

Why would you ever want to put the stock shifter back on? Even if you were trding the car in it only works in a few select cars. And to resell it would be like $50. Makes no sense to me really.
