Strange noise from drivetrain...

Im getting this high pitched, almost a whistling noise from my drivetrain, wanted to know if its a precursor to something else. In the mornings when I get going in first gear, theres this high pitched whistle noise from about 2k- 3k. It only seems to happen in that RPM range in the lower gears. I also hear it if Im in that range in 3rd gear, and I goose the throttle. It goes away after a little while of driving but still. I also sometimes hear the noise when I let the clutch out in gear. I dunno what the hell its all about. Maybe you guys have experienced this?

The trannys make a winding noise. Mine makes it just about everyday and haven't had any problems.

My car makes a whining noise all the time too. It got way worse after I put an intake on. I just can't seem to figure it out.....

I used to slip the clutch to get a smooth 1-2 shift all the time, i think thats why it makes that noise. I got the driver mod (aka figured out if shifted a little slower i didnt have to slip clutch.) Once the car is warmed up, the noise doesnt really happen. seems to be just when you first start it up and get going. I will post back in a week or so letting everybody know if "driver mod" fixes the problem.

I have the same thing as well, if you have a ss/sc. I have replaced every gasket, hose, etc. and it's still there. Mine went away when i reverted back to the stock airbox

I found it better to slip the clutch just a little bit into second, rather then just dropping it into second. I believe its easier on the clutch. When we pulled my clutch at 18k miles it was flawless still. Might even sell it.

I was under the assumption that anytime you intentionally slip the clutch it is bad for the clutch. Seems to me that if you shift a little bit slower but go on/ come off the clutch with the same quickness you can get a very smooth shift with no slippage. shifting slower would give the synchros all the time needed to line up too. I am only really talking about the 1-2 and 2-3 shift, the other ones can be shifted quicker without harshness. I did not notice the noise yesterday but i will keep an ear open.

Slipping the clutch in never good for it, it creates unwanted friction.
