sunfire transmission help
a friend of mine is having problems with her 2004 sunfire. She's afraid to take it to the dealer cause she thinks they'll screw her over. this is what she described to me:
"When I back up my car sqeals really bad and then when I put my car into drive it jerks a little before being able to go" only does it when the car is cold/not been driven for a bit. it's an automatic. thanks in advance

I'm old school
Did you check the fluid? Sounds low. Has it ever had a trans fluid service done? How many miles? Is it under warranty? Why is she afraid a dealer would screw her over?

I haven't had a chance to check the car yet. She thinks cause she is a girl the dealer will overcharge her, cause she doesn't know about cars.

The two GM dealers in Saint John are ridiculous. The city is filled with idiots IMO. I had the transmission fluid changed, flushed, and a new filter in my Sunfire at Centinal Pontiac. After they finished I got in the car and ran it through the gears and got out and checked the tranny fluid and it was down like a quart and a half. I went in bitching and complaining and they took it back in and filled it up to the proper level. If I would have drove it back to Nova Scotia like that I would have been screwed.
Now my run ins with Brett Chev and my cobalt are no better. They deserv each other being right across the street. Brett refuses to check my transmission fluid by pulling off the plug and seeing if it leaks out. They insist if there is no leaks on the outside of the tranny that it is fine. Just ******* check it thats what I'm paying for.
Hope she got it fixed.
