Thought?: Replace only one axle on LSD

I was thinking about this the other night and wan't to see what you guys think. My thought is to only replace the one axle on the passenger side with a 400hp axle. My thought behind this is that, that side is the side that takes the initial hit before the LSD kicks in, so with this said, with a 400hp axle on that side then it won't break nor will the other one break. What do you guys think about this idea?

First thing that comes to my mind would be a balancing issue. I'm no expert on power trains, but I dont think having a stock and a XHD axle would be too good.

The "hit" as you refer to it is not what breaks the axle. A stock axle will sooner spin the tire before it breaks. Wheel hop is what breaks them. So it won't matter, you will need both sides. I don't think you can buy just one side, can you?

Thats why im saying only replace the one axle that moves first to save some money and it might work. Its not just wheel hop its power.

Wheelhop isn't what takes car of the axles. Think of twisting your arm until you feel your shoulder pop out of place. That's what happens to the coupling joints in the axles. Spinning tires or not, the axle will twist when you take off initially. If it twists enough, you need to be towed across the line instead of flying by it. And yes, you do need both since they both spin.
