no but those come with detailed instructions so you don't have to look at TWM's hense why it's an easier solution no messing with the reverse lockout or worrying about directions

it's a little more expensive... but some people might want to opt for it if it's easier in the end ya know?

That was my thought, but SSBOOST did it without cutting. You must have missed his post.

Got a pic, didnt use new boot yet. I broke the thing that the boot is stapled to so I got to get a new one of those and ill trim the JDM boot and staple it to that. I DID NOT DO ANY CUTTING TO FIT THE SHORT SHIFTER. And yes it came with the purple RLO but I just took it off. Shorter throw, looks sleek and love the knob, here ya go.

I went for it, ordered the cheap shifter, hopefully I get more than I paid for. My car doesn't like to shift into 1st or reverse probably atleast once a day, I have to be a little agressive to get it in. I might have to look into that before installing the shifter or I'll have to put the stock one back in before taking the car to the dealership.

i dont know why you keep thinking it needs to be modified, it dosnt, no cutting or hacking of anything, the tranny of the 00+ cavaliers, sunfires, alero's and grand ams is also the same tranny us 2.2/2.4 owners use

if your talking about takes out the reverse lockout, i didnt even do that, it holds up the shift boot nicely

No modifying, correct. I also have the same problem a couple times a day with it not going into 1st or reverse. What I do to make it work is shift into 3rd (always works) and then go to 1st or reverse, works everytime.

it won't let you shift into first if you're going over twenty mph and its slower than that to get into reverse. I dunno if thats the problem or not but it could be, i know before i downshifted when coming to a stop i would just put in the clutch but the brake on and try to put it into first so i could get ready to go again and it wouldn't work. but now i'm progressively getting better and better at heel toe

I won't bother going to the dealership then. I had that issue with reverse in my 96 Civic but not with 1st. I'll get some pics once installed.

Is the spring that came with the package suppose to go under the shift knob to put pressure on the RLO, used in the assembly, or only needed for the Cavalier? Does it work better to leave the RLO on to hold the boot or remove it? Thanks.
