06' SS/SC Head Unit Install Help

Did a little searching and I think I have the solution as far as parts needed, but I just wanted to confirm. I bought a dash kit, wiring harness, and antenna adapter from Circuit City tonight. Went to do the install the the kit doesn't fit the factory housing. (Too Small)

Short Story / Question: Is the $100 wiring harness I purchased required for a new head unit to function properly or is this list I found in another thread what I need:

Also wondering if the part numbers will vary at either Best Buy or Circuit City. I prefer Best Buy.

HARNESS- GM 2002-up 24PIN HARNESS (item # 120702103)
DASH KIT- Chevy Malibu Kit (# 142GM1587B)
ANTENNA ADAPTER- GM Antenna Adapter (# 12040GM10)

The dash kit fit the cobalt. its just really a multi kit for the newer chevy's. any other questions ask me.
TIA guys,
Josh

You dont need 100$ harness however I dont think those item numbers are going to help you at best buy. (but im not 100% sure on that but those doent seem like the model #'s I remember)But you should still be able to tell them what yo are looking for and they should be able to figure it out

Ok, so they should have a different wiring harness that doesn't cost $100. I'll go to best buy. Maybe they will be a little wiser about this stuff. I'm also going to ask them if the malibu dash kit will fit the cobalt. If nothing else, I will buy and return them as necessary..lol.

The malibu dash kit is the one that you want. I wouldnt always trust best buy I went to one and asked and they said they didnt have anything then I went to another one and the guy knew exactly what to give me. The only reason you would need more than a 20$ harness is is you have onstar
