I would love to just put in a 2007 steering column , I coulda got the one outa the car I got the radio from cheap as well . But I just dont want any part of adding a airbag that isnt supposed to be there . For all I know GM could have made electrical changes in the 2007 air bag system and if I get in accident I want mine to work for sure , hehe . Thats one electronic aspect of the car I wont touch .

I dont think I can help you . There is no single wire for the mute button on the steering wheel . Theres only 2 wires from the radio controls coming off the steering column that go into the radio . The radio recognizes various resistence values , which are different for each function , from 1 of those 2 wires . I think those resistence value are transmitted on the wire in Connector 1 ( pin 11 ) , its a dark blue wire . The other radio control wire is a white wire with a black stripe in connector2 ( pin #14 ) ....pretty sure all that wire does is provide a contant voltage to the buttons from the radio and the dark blue wire sends the resistence value when the given button is pushed(opens circuit) back to the radio .

Im not sure if that helps ya or not , but thats the only direction I can point ya in .

cool, let us know if you get all the buttons working. i'd sacrifice the steering wheel controls to get an aux input in my hu, but i really don't want an aftermarket hu that doesn't match.

Sweet deal man , you probably already know this , but dont forget to cross your stock wiring with the 2007 Tahoe ( without uplevel audio option) wiring skematics and NOT a 2007 cobalt . Hopefully it works for ya and the Cobalt BCM software is compatible with the Tahoe BCM and it will recognonize it ...the fact its a Delphi kinda raises a brow . These radio's are made by 3 companies .....Delco/Delphi like you have , Panasonic( 2007 cobalt HU's ) and Fujitsu( the HHR one I have ) and the BCM software is different between car lines and model years where GMLAN is concerned .

Good luck with it .

Well , I figured out whay the ALL the radio controls dont work with the 07 radio . My Dad bought a new Saturn Aura , and it has the same steering wheel and radio controls as the 07 Cobalt . GM only has volume up/down , seek up/down and mute on the 2007 radio controls . They ditched the source button and 1-6 that the 05-06's had . So their working as at least like the 2007's would . Volume / seek and mute do work on mine .

There no trick to it . I have since lost my contacts at the dealer , both my friends moved to houston to go to S.A.M. and the tech that actually unlocked it no longer works there . What I do remember is theres basically a few different methods to reprogram the HU and only one them will work . The most commonly used method the dealers use for a vin relearn will NOT work . Hopefully your dealer will have the patience to work with you .

There really no way to ditch the 07 style chimes since it runs thru the audio system . So , what I did was remove the chime speaker thing from the back of the instrument cluster . You need a solder gun and the speaker is held on by 3 legs . Heat the solder up and pull it off the circuit board . You will need to remove the back panel of the instrument cluster to access it . Now I just have the 2007 chimes and NO ill side effects from removing the 05-06 style speaker thing .

to remove the back of the instrument cluster, u have to remove the panel under the steering wheel first?

Yeah , you need to also remove the silver bezels on each side . Then for the instrument cluster , theres 4 9/32 bolts , and 2 push style clips to get that out .

Do you happen to know who makes the radios in the 05's and 06's and which of the newer radios with XM, CD, MP3, and iPod jack are made by the same company and what cars they came in?

Did you ever get your Tahoe radio to work?

I'm curious to see if the new radios with the usb will work. I would like to buy one for my car. I've been wanting to ditch the dvd hu and go back to stock. I just want the aux.
