Alternator

Alright, was not exactly sure where to post this. I'm looking for enough Amps for a HC Amplifier, so I'm posting it here. What Amps are our stock Alts making? Is there a rebuild kit for them or an after market alt that will fit on the 2.4 Cobalts? Thanks.

No body?

Try this place... http://www.gostartech.com/ .....you will have to call or e-mail to see if they make em for the cobalt. My buddy and I have 200amp units in our trucks..they work and are trouble free after 6 yrs in his and 3 in mine.
post up if they do...I may get one for the car too.

Try a capacitor first. They are a must have for high power stereos. They really tighten up your bass and prevent your headlights from dimming when the bass hits! I have a 1.2 farad Stinger cap feeding my 1600 watt system and it kicks hard! The voltage hardly drops at all when the system is cranked. My cap has a built in voltmeter and it stays at 14volts or higher. Caps are also cheaper than alternators. As a rule of thumb, go with 1 farad of capacitance for each 1000-1500watts in your system. Good luck!
