Alternator noise

I have my system installed now. No dimming lights at all. I just have a quick question. I think my alternator lately has been making a squealing noise. It might have been doing that before but I just haven't noticed it. Is it normal for a alternator to be squealing or whining a little bit in the cold weather?? Its not real bad just a little whine.

Is it like a high pitched whine almost? because it could be feedback from the power wire. One way to tell if its feedback is if the whine gets louder as you rev the motor with the radio turned down. It is uaully caused when the power wire is ran to close to you speakers or speaker wire. But in the cobalt the battery is in the trunk so ther should be no reason there is power wire next to speaker wire. But when I put my system in I noticed it but it is so slight that I barely notice it.

I have put many systems in many cars but have never had any formal training, my entire post is what I have learnt from experience. Anyone with more experience or knowlege please feel free to correct me where I have made mistakes.

Do you hear the sond directly from the alternator or are you hearing it over the speakers?
