alternator noise

Well I'm not real sure whats going on but I've developed a very annoying case of alternator "bass". The really annoying part is its not constant, sometimes its nice and quiet like it should be, the next time I get in the car and go the sub is back there humming its ass off. I haven't changed anything in my setup. Its been fine for over 2 months and just started this crap yesterday. Anyone have any suggestions?

ya mine is/was bad because my amp was right next to the ground wire so after hitting it a few times it would get a lil loose and start alt whine but a simple tap and it was gone

thanks for the help man, i didn't find any loose connections but moving the wire around a few inches seemed to help a lot.
