changing display colour

changing display colour

I have a sirius satelite radio installed in my car as an aftermarket addon, and its got a blue display screen and blue glowing buttons, now my question:

how would one go about changing the colours to red? any ideas?

Well you have two basic options. All backlit LCD displays consist of the LCD screen itself with a row of small form LED's on the side illuminating a clear layer in front or behind the LCD layer. They are usually the same small form LED's used in cell phones, and if you have ever modded a cell phone then you'll know the ones I'm referring to. They're little squares.

Anyway, you can either replace those LED's, which would require taking the unit apart and doing some soldering; or you can go the route of polorization film. This usually just changes the color to its negative, so you'd have a black screen with blue text instead of a blue screen with black text, but sometimes you can find them that will add a tint to the color. Search google or ebay for them.
