Clarion CZ500 on factory speaker and sub
Hi there, i've purchase a new head unit (Clarion CZ500) and plugged it in yesterday. I have a few questions for you guys.
My car is a Cobalt LS 2005 with the pioneer sound system + Steering wheel control
Here is what i bought
Clarion CZ500
Metra = 70-2103
Steering wheel control = SWI-JACK
GM adapter for antenne
Scosche GM1587B dash kit
Alright i plugged everything, but i can notice a little hum when the volume is on 1 ...of course i don't hear it when the music is loud but i was wondering if someone have a clue of what it could be.
I notice that when i turn my key to accessories position, my radio doesn't power on(i run the red wire that comes with 70-2103 to the fuse box on the whipper fuse), the whippers are not working as feel ... in fact no display at all on the dash... i'm wondering if it's normal ... On ignition position , everything works fine ! no check engine,,,nothing.
I hope you guys can help me out with this
thank you very much and have a nice day

It's probably either the head unit itself or a ground loop. You can try buying a ground filter and putting it on your head unit ground wire - they're not very expensive. I'm not sure if the factory subwoofer amplifier uses the same ground as the head unit, but if it doesn't than it could be a ground loop that for some reason the factory unit didn't exhibit.

ya the hum is probably ground loop but to be honest there isnt much you can do for it without getting rid of the stock amp so i would just leave the music on louder then 1
regarding the radio on in acc i dont recall if mine is that way or not. You may want to try tapping the sunroof fuse instead of the wiper and see if it changes (probably wont but cant hurt). I think the guages not working on acc is normal

Wow thank you very much for your help !
I'll give it a try on the sunroof fuse..
Regarding my little noise... it can't broke my head unit or something ? If it doesn't , i'll leave it the way it is, otherwise i might buy a noise filter...
