8v pre-outs will shoot most circiut boards cause they usually handle up to 5v, only expensive amps can handle the massive 8v pre-outs. But you could still leave the gain down and just use an amp for tuning purposes.

by passing these units are easy. u can pretty much ground the parkin brake wire and just hook a switch on it so u dont have to use ur ebrake. the navi units get a little different. there are a couple of ways. u can do all that stuff. or just simply soder in the certain area. u have to know wut the hell u are doing when u come to soderin w/ the nav units.

i used to install stereos and dvd players ect, the easiest way to bypass the e-brake, is to simply take the wire that is supposed to be spliced with the e-brake wire and simply attach it to any low amp fuse in your fuse box (ex interior lighting, daytime running lights ect) This will ensure that whenever your car is on the dvd player will work flawlessly, not entirely sure about all of the different models you speak of, i never had a problem with any of these radio/dvd players with this method, good luck

i think for what it is its pretty nice... plus with the balts you should be able to add another screen in the console if you wanted to... overall with that screen and the extra one you would get way more viewing area vs a double din or a non screen din unit + screen
