I know you don't care, I like the door pods, but that cone on the 8 is ugly...looks like wet cardboard....Hope the sound makes up for it. (The other speaker looks great though.)

lol you dont like the "pulp" cone? i would say the pictures dont really do it justice which they dont but they are still very pulpy in person. Sound badass. they can really take plenty of power. I havent been able to find there limit yet (especially since they hit the seats before said limit)

There is a theory behind such a cone design. with a normal uniform cone it will have frequencies at which it is springy and will resonate causing dips and spikes in the responce. A pulpy style cone has more of a "random" density so such resonant spikes should be dulled.

incase anyone wanted to know

Hey EMP how did you mount your pods? Screwed in from the inside of the door panel?

nope the door panels wouldn't hold the weight very well Its screwed on from inside the pod thru the plastic panel and the metal as well

Only thing that sux is i want to throw a second skin speaker tweeker behind both the midranges but id have to cut away more metal then i can

interesting... hertz offers their 6.5 hi energy in both the normal and pulpy styles

any idea if the fiberglass weaved CDT's would be considered the uniform density?

whos ready for round 2? sunday im going to start the tweeter "pods". Im replacing my Rockford fosgate 25mm tweets with a bigger CDT 2" midtweeter. Im mainly doing this for sq purposes to get more midrange higher, most songs sound good but a few sound muffled with 90% of the music coming from the bottom. This will balance it out a bit.

as a reminder i currently have:
and im getting a pair of the ES-02's
http://www.woofersetc.com/p5352/ES02...ers-(Pair).htm

Only thing im undecided on is what im going to cover it with? i didnt do anything with what i had because of the oem style look. i cant retain that with the new pod so should i paint? laser blue? black? carbon fiber? black vinyl?

I'll let you know hopefully next week if we meet, lol, I would say paint blue since the dash has already the blue on it, but I have to see it in person to get an idea, cause somtimes, you can overkill with the accents

Have you finished them yet (paint or what not)

Here's my opinion, I know what your thinking but your going to get it anyway

The pods may or maynot stand out a little to much if you go blue with them, have to see it to know for sure. However I think if you did them the same as you did the door pods it would A) blend well with the doors and the pilliars B) round out the overall apperance.. Since there at eye level you don't want them to jump out at you but you want them noticed, so something different but yet suttle would IMO look classy while keeping an overall uniform apperance.
But like I said seeing is believing

ya laser blue wasnt an option i was considering at all. The touch i have on the dash panels is about as much as i personally like. many have said to paint the abs dash kit and i say **** that.

Vinyl was sorta what i wanted but they wouldn't fit back in. Black paint was sorta iffy especially if its all smooth and shiny and ****.

I was actually thinking about something like bedliner but didnt really say anything. and my friend went ahead and sprayed out "port spray" which is the bedliner in a can on the pods to see how it would look and after a few light coats. DONE awesome!
