Extra Gauges
So you can put them in the pillar, or there are two locations people put them in front of you. on the steering colomn (ala cobalt-addiction) or on the frame to the gauges (ala mkulrey13)
Like they said, the air bags come down from the headliner, not out from the pillar, you're fine to put in the pillar. I have pics of my triple gauge set-up in my gallery
Our boost gauge comes stock in the A-pillar anyways,,,
no they aren't. There is a mounting./anchor point for the front of the bag at teh top of teh a-pillar, but the actual bags themselves are all contained in the headliner, and roll straight down towards the floow when they are activated. There are pics of a wrecked balt floating around here somewhere, to show you exactly what we're talking about.
With either stock, or aftermarket pillar the bags will still deploy the same exact way, the top of the pillar (the clip that they screw into anyways) will give a little bit to allow for clearance, but NOTHING comes out of the pillar. think about it,

You honestly think that airbag coming out of there at 20,000psi is going to give a **** whats in front of it? Go ahead and put your gauges there, it isnt going to affect anything.
No, but if it is in the way and god forbid I got into a accident the insurance company might bust my ***** and say they aren't paying medical bills. It has happened before or so I hear.
