there is plenty of space in ther ss/sc... behind the panel itself is id say a cube and a half at least and another 2 cubes behind the metal. My actual plans are going to mount a fiberglass enclosure for 1 or 2 6.5s behind the plastic panel itself. I dont plan on needing to cut or remove any metal

 

there is enough room in the rear quarter panels to nicely mount 2 8in. subs (per side) with no frame cutting etc. and still have good-outstanding sound quality.

you obviously just need to fiberglass the enclosure.

okkaay. im reviving this from the dead cuz i got a question...for making a "pod" for an 8" sub in that rear panel is there any way to make it out of anything other than fiberglass? i dont want to deal with the mess of fiberglass.

 

if you do a lot of measuring and precise cutting you can use wood. But it would be alot more difficult.

basically a lot of cardboard cutting till you have the right shapes, then trace them onto the boards and follow with a good reciprocating saw. probably will end up using alot of sealent between the boards and the metal/plastic of the car. but would make a nice sturdy enclosure. Then you can cut a hole into the plastic side and screw the sub into it and the Box.

 

you can do it i saw a cobalt on ebay who did it

 

i doubt i'd cut a hole in the plastic. i think there is enough room behind it to have the sub not touch it, but i havent looked at it yet.
