How to get better sound - bypass fact amp?

Hey guys, I recently put in a Pioneer 7" double din and a 12" JL W3. My speakers are being double amped now (by the headunit and factory amp). What is the easiest way to allow my headunit to amp the speakers and NOT the factory amp? I don't want to do the "Factory Amp Bypass" because I would not like to run a aftermarket amp to amplify my speakers. Thanks!

If you have a 07 or newer SS or SS/SC/TC then you shouldn't be double amping it. If you used an expensive harness then it converts the low signal that runs to the amp into RCA's so they can interface with the aftermarket deck.

Can't really help untill I know what your running (harness, year make of car, stock Pioneer sytem or base sytem)

i would have to agree.....plus you would be the first person i know of that has double amped speakers , from your pioneer system , and factory radio. my guess is your just intergrated into the factory amp!

its a 2005. and I used a PAC (dont remember the exact model). Double amping probably isnt the word but it gets really distorted after about Volume level 15. I usually listen to it at about 10-13 which isnt cranked but is decent. I like to have my music loud and clear though. Anyone know whats going on here or how I can fix this?

Is it a SS/SC with the Pioneer system (sub in the trunk, tweeters in the sail panels)

How much did the PAC run you, was it like $20 or like $150.

2005, Canadian, so it doesn't have Onstar then right.

ya the pac is sorta a waste... but i know what your talking about and its a weird fix. Bet thing to do is use the rca outputs on the deck. If you can find some rcas that have seperate wires for pos and neg it would be best but if not just buy some cheap rcas and cut them. the outer shielding is neg and inner core is pos

probably like 100 spun. its the half ass module for us 05-06 guys but it doesn't really do anything other then give you acc. personally id rather save the 80 bucks and run a wire but whatever

Yeah its a SS/SC with Pioneer, sorry should have made that clear earlier. The pac was $120 (with my discount) reg price like $220+!

Yes, it has Onstar.

Emperor, I have no idea what you are talking about! Lol, could you please clarify?

No it doesnt. Just straight two plug ins for the harnesses, the factory one comes in, aftermarket goes out and wired to the back of the deck.

thats why... your giving the factory amp too much input power. you need to get it to rcas some how. the splicing of rcas like i explained earlier is a bit ghetto but it will work

And that would fix the problems with the speakers being distorted too? What if I was to just unplug and remove my factory sub?

Could i unplug my factory amp, splice into my speaker wires running to that fact amp and run new wires from there to the deck? And leave my fact amp unplugged? this way I could put in the stock HU and plug in my factory amp when I decide to sell the car?

ya but a whole slew of issues are involved with that. trust me the rca thing will be the easiest and best especially if your expecting to sell the car later on

he is basically telling you to take your harness that has white, gray, green, and purple coming from the factory side and put rca ends on them, i have them where i work (bestbuy) the model number is rca8, this will power the factory amp, and in-turn the wires coming out of the aftermarket radio (same colors as above W,G,GR, P) will not be used you will just need to wire up power!

you can take some rcas and cut the rca end off leaving some slack to work with, when you strip the cut end yo should have two wires one positive and one negative! you need a total of 4 ends + and -
