Info Needed on Getting a new Deck
Hey everyone,
I am buying a new deck for my car, I have looked at a lot of options but I finally went with a Pioneer.
Now going to the speed shops and Future shop everyone is telling me that I need special kits.
Now what exactly do I need to install this deck, they are telling me it might cost me up to 500$ for the kits, now I have a 2005 Pontiac Pursuit.
Now I know I need the GM harness due to the new car, but they are telling me that either I am getting a basic kit, or a very non-basic kit.
Can anyone help!!!

Not to change the topic but is there anyone who changed to an aftermarket deck that had problems with there Driver Information Center because the headunit I was looking at says it needs something that is like $180 that moves the DIC under the radio. If anyone can help me I'd greatly appreciate it. Here is the headunit I'm looking at: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ypgZqXb...0&I=070XDM7610.
I believe it's all listed in the FAQ. You shouldn't need a new harness... most places that install car audio all try and steal your money.
You can go to your local walmart and buy the plastic dash kit to hold the radio in place. Then go to your local Autozone or Pep Boys and head towards the antenna section. There will be a bunch of wiring harness there that are direct plug in's to the stock unit. Remove the stock radio and the harness you bought from autozone plugs right into the plug that went into the stock radio. Solder the aftermarket deck harness to the newly connected harness and plug it all in. Piece of cake.

But the cobalt/Pursuit dont require that. The only time you are required to get a special harness with our vehicles is if you have onstar and you dont want to loose onstar. Other wise you should be able to get the harness for 20$ or less depending on where you buy it.

Just to let you know, the TWM is great, I got my Viper 5000 Alarm installed this weekend and my Pioneer deck also, I am getting there very slowly but making progress...
The TWM is the best thing I ever got, it just makes the ride so smooth and less work.
